Montessori
During their formative years, National Public School, Vibhutipura (HAL) provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children. Grounded in the Montessori philosophy, our curriculum emphasises hands-on learning, self-directed activity, and play.
Here are the key features of our Montessori approach:
- Self-Directed Learning: We encourage children to explore and discover through specially designed learning materials and activities. These materials guide them through various domains, including language, mathematics, sensory experiences, practical life skills, and cultural awareness.
- Language and Literacy: The Montessori classrooms foster rich oral language experiences, storytelling, and cultural exploration. This approach enhances vocabulary and comprehension, serving as a gateway to literacy.
- Mathematical Understanding: Concrete manipulative materials are used to teach abstract mathematical concepts such as numeracy, geometry, and spatial reasoning. This hands-on approach ensures a solid foundation in mathematics.
- Holistic Development: Beyond academics, the curriculum includes elements of science, arts, music, and physical education. Students engage in creative activities like gardening, art projects, musical exploration, and interactive digital learning tools.
By integrating contemporary educational strategies with the Montessori method, we provide a dynamic and relevant educational journey for our youngest students.
Early Years – Kindergarten
Children join Kindergarten when they are four and continue for two years until they reach Class 1.
Kindergarten is the “Foundation Years,” when children see significant physical, emotional, and intellectual growth from the formative years to graduation. In these years, we emphasise and encourage creative play and expression, physical fitness, constructive socialisation, and early linguistic and arithmetic basics to help every child build competencies.
The Kindergarten curriculum provides significant emphasis on a child’s all-round development. There is a thoughtful balance between teacher-directed work and child-directed activities. Our children develop an attitude for learning that lasts a lifetime. They remain inquisitive learners throughout their lives.
We follow a “Continuous informal evaluation” system based on class work, theme-based worksheets, and observation sessions. We adhere to a healthy teacher-student ratio supported by a well-trained, caring, and empathetic support staff.

Primary Years

We offer an integrated, interdisciplinary primary School curriculum. We constantly endeavour to provide a rich learning experience through activity-oriented teaching, extensive co-curricular activities, and hands-on working opportunities.
Our rigorous curriculum is blended with creative arts and taught in a manner that physically, cognitively, and emotionally engages our students. We introduce students progressively to integrated knowledge while bolstering their aptitude in English, Mathematics, General Science and Social Science as they move through primary School.
Our curriculum strikes a perfect balance between academic and non-academic disciplines. To facilitate learner-centric education, we have adopted enquiry-based learning in Science and the writing process in English.
Middle Years
Middle Years are Grades 6 to 8, and our students are now ready to dive deep into all academic subjects. They are ready to face challenges, experience new things and be ready to establish their individual identities and personalities. We support our students in smoothly transitioning from primary to middle years and preparing to expand their knowledge horizons.
In these grades, students develop deductive reasoning, problem-solving, critical thinking and generalising skills that help them better understand core subjects – English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Computer Science and languages like Kannada, English and Hindi.
Students also begin participating in inter-house and inter-school activities and choosing from an array of extracurricular activities and classes offered by the School. These activities help our students discover hitherto undiscovered aptitudes and talents.
The Middle Years at NPS Vibhutipura (HAL) provide a fertile ground for intellectual growth, skill development, and self-discovery.

Secondary and Senior Years

Our students are ready to expand their wings and fly higher in the Secondary and Senior Years. We provide them with a plethora of opportunities to hone specific skills such as leadership, communication, presentation, team building, social skills, organisational skills, and many more. We encourage students to explore their full potential by enhancing their competencies through scholastic and co-scholastic activities throughout the academic year.
Students are also expected to increasingly become independent learners keen on setting up personal academic goals. We believe that regular guidance and testing give young students the self-discipline and confidence to handle numerous challenges, make them courageous young adults, and build their self-esteem.
There is no dull day for these ever-curious, constantly seeking-to-learn young learners. We offer students substantial roles to play in and out of school. One such opportunity is in planning, organising, and executing our events. They are also encouraged to represent their alma mater in many events and activities throughout their schooling years. We also encourage our students to mentor and train their juniors so that they leave a fine legacy and imprint on future generations.
English, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Sanskrit /Hindi /French. Environmental Education, PE, Yoga, Work Education, and Visual and Performing Arts are part of the curriculum in Grades 9 and 10. We have hands-on experiments, analytical collaborative learning models, inquiry-based assignments, and interactive study sessions that constantly help them develop a penchant for all subjects. Innovative and interactive workshops and sessions are conducted on issues related to adolescence and career counselling.
